TFT's thoughts on the subject of ID cards...

"So are ID cards a real policy? It doesn?t look like it,
especially since the Government isn't rushing them into service,
despite the daily risk of an Al Quaeda outrage.

If anything, they seem to be just another piece of randomness
that the government has come up with in response to non-existent
public demand. Anyone remember the plan to electronically tag
new-born babies after a baby was stolen from a hospital a couple
of years back? Or the plan to introduce a US-style ?swearing in?
ceremony for new immigrants? Or the ban on fox hunting? Or the
plan to introduce guidelines on using the Internet? Or the plan
to march yobboes to cashpoints to pay on-the-spot fines? Or a
computer for every school pupil?"

All policies the Gov was going to introduce but then decided not to bother...
